Texas Weather This Week with Trey (@ConvectiveChronicles) – Warmup Before Weekend Cold Snap

Meteorologist Trey Greenwood from Convective Chronicles breaks down the upcoming week in Texas weather. Unlike recent Sundays, this week is quiet: no severe weather and no flash flooding concerns. Instead, the main story is temperature swings driven by changing upper-air patterns.

Trey shows how a weak trough today brings a brief cool-down, followed by a steady warm-up through midweek as ridging builds across the western United States. He explains why highs in the 60s and 70s return to much of Texas by Tuesday through Thursday.

But the most significant change arrives late in the week. A strong trough dropping out of eastern Canada will send a surge of much colder air southward, plunging temperatures across most of Texas Friday into Saturday. Many areas north of I-10 may wake up below freezing Saturday morning, with highs struggling in the 40s and 50s.

This video walks through the setup at 500mb, the surface pattern, moisture trends, model temperature guidance, and why this weekend cold snap will be noticeably stronger than the weak frontal passage early this week.
