Texas Weather This Week: East Texas Severe Risk Today, Fire Danger, Then Big Warmup

Meteorologist Trey Greenwood is back with this week’s in-depth Texas weather briefing.

In this Sunday forecast update, Trey breaks down the low-end severe weather threat across East Texas today, including the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes, especially near the slight risk area in northeast and eastern parts of the state. He also covers the critical fire weather concerns across West and Northwest Texas, where strong winds and dry air will elevate wildfire danger through at least Tuesday.

After today’s system exits, Texas turns much quieter. A strong ridge of high pressure is expected to build in, bringing a major warmup through the middle and latter part of the week. Many areas will climb into the 80s, with some spots in West and Northwest Texas potentially nearing 90 degrees.

In this video:
• East Texas severe storm threat for today
• Tornado, hail, and damaging wind potential
• Fire weather risk in West and Northwest Texas
• Strong winds behind the cold front
• Cooler air briefly Monday into Tuesday
• Warmer, quieter pattern for the rest of the week
• When the next pattern change may arrive

If you’re in East Texas, stay weather aware today and have multiple ways to receive warnings. If you’re in West Texas, avoid activities that could spark a fire.
