Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon in Northwest Texas, Big Country, the eastern Permian Basin, and Concho Valley.

We may also see new storms this afternoon in Texoma and North Texas. Most storms will move east/northeast at speeds ranging from 30 to 40 MPH.

Severe thunderstorms are possible after 2 PM through Sunday morning in the Concho Valley, Big Country, North Texas, Texoma, and eastern Permian Basin. The most intense storms may produce very large hail, damaging winds, flash flooding, and a few tornadoes.

The most intense storms will have the potential to produce baseball-sized hail or larger, localized damaging wind gusts exceeding 65 MPH, and a few tornadoes. The tornado threat is slightly higher than yesterday, but still low.

More storms will develop tonight in the aforementioned regions near a cold front. Those storms will organize into a squall line that will move east into Easter Sunday morning, approaching Interstate 35 early Sunday morning.

Like this morning’s storms, we expect these storms will weaken as they approach Interstate 35 tomorrow morning. Some storms may produce strong wind gusts, hail, heavy rain, and lightning. Isolated severe storms may develop in Northeast Texas, East Texas, and Southeast Texas Sunday afternoon.
