Texas Severe Weather Nowcast [5:15PM 4/19/25]

Scattered supercell thunderstorms producing severe weather are moving northeast across the Concho Valley. The most intense storms have produced baseball-sized hail, localized damaging wind gusts over 70 MPH, and at least one confirmed tornado south of Sterling City a bit earlier.

A tornado watch has been issued for the Concho Valley until 10 PM, including San Angelo.

These storms will primarily present a destructive hail threat, but a few tornadoes and damaging wind gusts are possible over the next couple of hours. A severe storm near Big Lake may pose a threat to San Angelo by 6:45PM.

Other storms may develop in the Big Country and western North Texas over the next few hours with a risk of large hail. Otherwise, storms will move into western North Texas by 8 PM.

A line of strong to severe storms will develop late this evening in the Big Country and Concho Valley. Those storms will move east into the Hill Country, Central Texas, and South-Central Texas before sunrise on Sunday.

Some storms in the line will produce damaging winds, hail, and very heavy rain. Storms may also extend north into North Texas.
