Texas Braces for More Storms as Flood Risk Rises

Wet and stormy weather will persist across Texas through much of the work week as we begin to wind down our busy severe weather pattern.

Periods of more active, severe thunderstorm potential will persist in a few pockets of Texas later this evening and throughout the week. However, we’re finally starting to move toward an early summertime weather pattern.

Abundant tropical moisture and some modest lift, along with the lack of an upper-level heat dome to ‘smush’ storms, will allow thunderstorm chances to continue this week.

Multiple rounds of storms with heavy rain will likely bring a threat of flooding back to parts of the state. Stronger storms will still remain capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and a significant amount of cloud-to-ground lightning.

The threat of tornadoes is very low, but not completely zero. No tropical mischief from the Gulf or Atlantic is expected over the next seven days.
