Summer is officially here, marking the longest day of 2025 for the United States! From this point on, total daylight will begin to decrease, so make sure to enjoy those sunny days while you can. You’ll certainly have the chance to do that over the next several days, as most of Texas is expected to experience mostly clear skies and seasonably warm weather.
An exception to this sunny, dry forecast will be isolated afternoon popup showers along the Texas Gulf Coast and in Southeast Texas. However, those showers will be more misses than hits each day.
Remnant moisture from what was Hurricane Erick will flow north across the Rio Grande Valley, Big Bend, and Borderland in Far West Texas this weekend. This will kick-start the monsoon season, with the highest chances of rain in Texas concentrated across the western twenty percent of the state this weekend and during the first half of the upcoming week. You may receive one to two inches of rain locally, along with the risk of localized flooding. A few stronger storms are possible Sunday afternoon and evening in the Texas Panhandle and West Texas.
