Texas Severe Weather Update [8/11 6:15PM]

Thunderstorms are increasing in frequency and strength across the Texas Panhandle. Tennis-ball-sized hail has been reported on Highway 287 about 20 miles north of Amarillo. These storms are also causing damaging winds over 70 MPH. We expect the activity to directly affect Amarillo by 8 PM as they move slowly southeast. Storm activity is also rising in West Texas and Northwest Texas, including around Wichita Falls.

A cluster of storms will move southeast overnight into Tuesday morning across the Panhandle, West Texas, Northwest Texas, and the Big Country. The most severe storms will bring damaging wind gusts, hail, and flooding rainfall.
