I’m Texas Storm Chasers’ Baldy-in-Chief David Reimer with a Wednesday afternoon update. Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected across the Texas Panhandle this evening, especially after dinner through late tonight as storms move in from Colorado, New Mexico, and the Oklahoma Panhandle.
Storms already underway this afternoon near Amarillo, Pampa, and Canadian are producing heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds, and small hail. Later this evening, storms could intensify with the risk of damaging winds up to 70 mph, large hail up to tennis ball size, and isolated flash flooding. While the tornado risk is very low, it’s not zero.
Stay weather aware, and remember: when thunder roars, go indoors. Turn around, don’t drown if you encounter flooded roads.
