Clouds are increasing today ahead of a storm system arriving Saturday, followed by the strongest cold front of the season. Expect areas of drizzle today, scattered showers tonight, and thunderstorms on Saturday — including a few that may turn severe across parts of North, Central, East, and Southeast Texas.
Behind the front, temperatures crash statewide with hard-freeze conditions expected across the Panhandle, West Texas, Northwest Texas, and parts of the Big Country and Hill Country by Sunday morning. Wind chills will be in the teens and single digits in the Panhandle.
A few snow flurries may occur in the Texas Panhandle and possibly near the Red River on Monday. No major winter storm is expected at this time.
We’ll monitor tomorrow’s severe storm risk and temperature trends closely.
