Bands of snow continue across the Texas Panhandle as we approach midnight on December 3, rolling into Thursday morning. A lull is underway in the western and southern Panhandle, but new heavier snow bands are forming in eastern New Mexico and will move into Texas over the next several hours.
Most folks will see a dusting, but narrow heavy bands may drop up to 4 inches and create slick, hazardous travel. Expect issues on bridges, overpasses, and even main roads where snowfall rates exceed melt rates. Snow impacts likely along I-40, US-287, US-60, and surrounding areas.
Elsewhere in Texas, thunderstorms with locally heavy rain continue across Southeast Texas, East Texas, and the Golden Triangle. Severe weather is not expected, but small hail is possible in isolated storms.
Snow continues through about 10 AM for the Panhandle, West Texas, and parts of Northwest Texas, tapering off early afternoon. Another round of rain arrives tonight into Friday morning for the southeastern half of the state.
