Good morning. It’s 2 AM Central, and the freezing line is actively pushing southeast across Texas.

Right now, the freezing line is bisecting the DFW Metroplex. Northeast Texas is below freezing. Tyler is near 34, Longview around 32. North Texas continues to cool rapidly.

The freezing line has now entered the Hill Country. Areas west of Fredericksburg near Harper and Llano are dropping toward freezing. While some sensors still show 33–34, actual temps are already closer to 31 and falling. The Concho Valley and Northwest Texas are already well into the 20s.

Meanwhile, South Central Texas remains above freezing for now. Strong storms are ongoing near Uvalde, moving east toward San Antonio with temperatures still in the 40s and 50s. South Texas remains warm, still in the 60s and 70s, but that will change later today.

Across North and Northwest Texas, freezing rain and sleet are ongoing. Wichita Falls is 16. Bowie is 19. Roads are icy from Abilene northward through Wichita Falls, and ice is also being reported near Midland and Odessa.

As temperatures continue to fall overnight and through the morning, ice accretion will increase, especially on bridges, overpasses, power lines, and tree branches. Ground-level icing will become more likely as soil temperatures cool through the day.
