Rain chances continue today across East Texas, Southeast Texas, and the Upper Texas Coast as a cold front moves through the state. Some areas could see heavier downpours and thunderstorms, especially near the Golden Triangle, but no severe weather is expected.
Behind the front, gusty north winds arrive tonight, followed by a much drier air mass on Wednesday. Fire danger will increase midweek as fuels dry out, even with soft soils still in place.
Looking ahead, Texas is in for a beautiful, warm weekend, with widespread 70s and even 80s returning. Early next week, the weather pattern becomes more active again, with multiple storm systems possible as the jet stream dips farther south.
Despite social media rumors, no polar vortex or Arctic outbreak is expected for Texas. Climate guidance continues to show above-average temperatures across most of the state.
