Spring may officially be here, but across Texas, the weather is acting more like the middle of summer.
Instead of mild conditions, much of the state is heading into a stretch of hot, dry weather with increasing wildfire risk through the weekend and into next week.

🌡️ Hot and Dry Pattern Locked In
There is no rain expected across Texas over the next week.
The overall setup remains unchanged:
Dry conditions statewide
Southerly winds through Saturday
A cold front arriving Sunday into Monday
This front will not bring rain — it will mainly shift winds and slightly lower temperatures for part of the state.
🔥 Fire Danger Increasing Statewide
The biggest concern heading into the weekend is fire danger.
According to the Texas A&M Forest Service:
Friday: Moderate to high fire danger
Saturday & Sunday: Very high to extreme fire danger
This is driven by:
Temperatures in the 90s to near 100°
Low humidity
Gusty winds up to 20–25 mph
Dry vegetation following recent cold temperatures
Energy release levels are expected to be well above normal, meaning vegetation will burn easily and fires could spread quickly.
👉 Avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could create sparks.
🌡️ Temperatures Climbing Into the 90s and 100s
Friday
Near 100° in Childress
Upper 90s across West Texas

🌬️ Cold Front Early Next Week
By Monday:
North Texas: Cooler, highs in the 70s
Central Texas: Slightly cooler, still warm
South Texas: Heat continues
This front is weak and will not push far south, limiting its impact.
🔁 Heat Returns Quickly
The cooldown will be short-lived.
By Tuesday:
Temperatures climb back into the upper 80s and 90s statewide
🚫 No Rain, Limited Relief
Rain chances remain very low.
There is a small signal for possible precipitation in southern or southwestern Texas later on, but confidence is low.
For now:
No meaningful rain expected over the next 7 days
Dry conditions continue
Fire danger remains elevated
⚠️ Bottom Line
Summer-like heat has arrived early in Texas
Temperatures will reach the 90s and near 100° this weekend
Fire danger will become very high to extreme
A weak cold front brings only minor relief
No meaningful rain is expected
