The final day of September will be similar to the first week of October weather-wise across Texas. It will be seasonally hot, with afternoon temperatures mainly in the upper 80s to upper 90s and dry and comfortable nights. An extended period of dry weather will keep much of Texas dry over the upcoming seven to ten days. The only chance for rain will be late this week near the Texas Gulf Coast and South Texas. Wildfire concerns will be elevated across the western half of the state.
Like a train on the tracks, another tropical disturbance is gaining attention in the central Caribbean. As it moves into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, the system has a medium chance of becoming a named tropical cyclone. Another tropical threat for portions of the northern and eastern Gulf of Mexico could occur within a week. The project upper-air pattern does favor another Francine or Helene track – as in, a system that would remain east of Texas. We’ll keep tabs on it, though, since it’ll be the only weather we’ll have to monitor this week in our part of the world.
